First Haircut

So yesterday was a momentous day...after two years (only one year with hair), we caved and took Jackson to get his first haircut. He did so well! Here are his before, during, and after pics. I was so proud of him. Daddy was there to take some pictures, then I stayed afterwards for a haircut myself. He can't stop talking about his "hair trim" and I even got a lock for his keepsake box.

Bike Ride

So last week Jackson and I took a bike ride with our neighbor girls. They let us borrow (and have) the bike seat. The only problem was, I didn't have a helmet for Jackson yet. I know, I'm a horrible mom. I went anyway, just around the neighborhood, and it was really fun. But I promise I won't do it again until I buy Jackson a helmet. Promise.

This weekend is busy already and it's not even over yet! Today was filled with packing, then a baby shower for a friend (I was in charge of games, it was fun!) I'm headed to bed now, then tomorrow I sing at church for Palm Sunday, and then we have dinner with Lee (who owns our house) just for fun. Yawn! I need a nap.

23 weeks

So I had a pregnancy milestone. When I woke up this morning, with a sharp stomach pain, and set my hands on my stomach as a reflex, I finally realized what these pains I've been having off and on this week are--Braxton Hicks contractions! I've been thinking maybe it was gas, but this morning I realized my stomach was rock-hard, like a contraction, and when the pain went away, it was soft again. I'm glad to know what it is, I never had these with Jackson. God is always preparing me for being better able to relate to my patients who always think they're dying when they have the slightest little ache/pain. Multiplied x 10 if they are pregnant. I'm glad to know I'm not dying.

This weekend was great. It seemed like it was my first weekend totally off in a long time. It was so nice not to have to go anywhere. I got a huge chunk of packing done, which was awesome, I feel a lot better about that. Jackson and I had a great time together, he is cracking me up. He actually counted to 14 the other day! Not to be repeated, but it was pretty amazing. He's pretty consistent from 1-5. He is also obsessed with sitting on the potty, pants and socks off, to "potty-train," which he says. It's usually AFTER he's already peed his diaper, but at least he's trying. It's really funny.

This week doesn't seem too bad, I'm going to try to get some more packing done. We only have 2 weekends left to pack!

Jackson's Party Pics

Happy 2nd Birthday, Jackson!

I know this blog is a few days late, but better late than never!
Happy birthday, baby Jackson! You're not a baby anymore, you are a full-fledged toddler. You are full of energy and life and you make Daddy and me very happy.
You are talking so much and can pretty much say anything you want to, now. Your latest trend is saying, "Show me" or "Show ya" and taking our hands and leading us to whatever it is that you want to show us. It's super cute. You love playing with your cars, you know the names of all the characters from Thomas the Train and the Cars movie, even though we still haven't officially introduced you to TV yet. You notice every little thing, just like your Daddy--you point out to me the line in the sky from the planes, the moon, the stars, our shadows, pinecones. You know all your numbers by looking at them but can only count to 4 right now. Your favorite number is 9 and your favorite letter is Q. You are working on your ABCs but know your letters really well. We're also working on your colors; you think everything is blue. You get really excited when you see a "blue car." You just had your 2 year check up at the doctor's office:
Stats:
Weight: 26 lbs
Height: 34 1/2 inches

You can do everything you are supposed to for your age, but we're trying to teach you to jump. I'm going to take a YouTube video soon of you trying to jump, it's really funny. You are always willing to try something new. You love playing with balls outside with the girls. You do really well still at the nursery and at the YMCA daycare. You have still managed to make it through life without any antibiotics, and your only illness so far was a bout of croup in January, bringing us to the ER and everything.
My life has changed dramatically since you were born, and I have realized that you make my life richer and fuller, and I absolutely LOVE being your mommy. That will never change.

I will post some pics of his birthday party soon. It was a construction theme, and it was really fun.

Happy birthday, baby!

Moving on...

Well, yesterday we got the news I've been dreading for months. They got an offer on the house we're renting. And it looks like it's serious. I'm happy for Lee, but sad for us, because this is SUCH a great house. I was reading my devotion on God's will when I got the call...was He trying to tell me something?

I called my mentor and friend Denise to cry to her, and she answered the phone with, "So, I heard your house sold!" What?????!!!!! It turns out that a family from our church is buying it, who told her sister who is in our care group, who called Denise to tell her. God MUST have a plan. So we feel at peace that this is God's will, it's so cool that He made it so obvious.

Ever since we heard the news, JW has been searching like mad for a place for us to call home. He's really good at that. :) He found one. In 2 days. It's a 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath condo with a 2 car garage and a huge basement! It seems almost as big as this house! It's just perfect for us. So we're going ahead with it and turning in paperwork tomorrow. Ready to get this show on the road!

Thank you Lord for your awesome plans for us, and for giving me a peek into them this time!
